Cross Country Skiing
For all those, who prefer a gentle cross country trail to the alpine circus or those wanting to put on their cross country skis after whizzing down the piste, will find a 30 km long well-prepared cross country trail in classical style and partly skating trail in the Grossarl Valley. The trail leads along the Grossarl Ark in a southerly direction, negotiates after appro. 5 km a short steep part and finally leads on further to just before the centre of Hüttschlag. After approx. 400 m footpath the trail continues and leads past the popular "Aschaustüberl" into the picturesque and guaranteed snow-covered valley head to the National Park Gasthof "Talwirt" with a large car park and exhibition "Magical Forest" and National Park information point.
The slopes are in best condition!
****floodlight cross country skiing****
Since winter 2002/2003 it is possibility to do floodlight-cross-ountry-skiing at the Aschaustüberl in Hüttschlag. There we have an ílluminated cross country trail about 3 km. Opend on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6.00 pm - 8.30 pm |
NEW - cross country trail at the Saukaralm (1.850 m)
In the area of the Saukaralm is a 4 km long cross-county trail in best codition. This slope has a medium-heavy profile and is therefore not appropriate for beginners. The trial is 3 to 4 days open per week (when the weather is fine on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, if the weather isn't so fine there are other open days possible, the opening hours you will get to know from the tourist office, weekly event-timetable or from family Knapp, Saukaralm: 0664/53 18 692. The "Saukaralm" is also a tip for walker, snowshoe hikers and tobogganging trips! |
You can only go there by taxi, the drive-up with the own car is not allowed!
transfer to the Saukaralm:
time: 10.00 am, 1.00 pm, 3.15 Uhr up - 1.45 pm und 4.00 pm back to the valley.
entry possibilities: departure zentrum/Unterberg and/or along the distance
price: transfer to the mountain hut and back again: € 13,00/person (2 people are necessary)
any possible: reservation 3 hours before depature necessary
