Winner of Ski Area Test
In winter 2004 / 05 the Grossarl Valley-Dorfgastein ski circuit took part in a international ski area test and come a sensational second place.
Piste maintenance
The Grossarl Valley-Dorfgastein ski circuit has made a name for itself by winning numerous awards for piste maintenance. 15 modern piste bashers are in operation night after night preparing all pistes to ensure that you can leave your trails in the "white carpet" the next morning.
Snow-making
Also in the event of the precious white stuff not falling quite so often from the heavens, in the Grossarl Valley-Dorgastein they are well prepared: Snow can be made on around 82% of all pistes. Pure water without any additives is finely sprayed at high pressure into the air at minus temperatures and it crystallises into snow. The water used for snow-making comes from several sources and mountain streams near the pistes. 227 modern snow canons, 3 reservoirs and various storage basins with a total volume of 80.000 m³ guarantee fun on the pistes. The energy for snow-making comes from the Grossarl Valley Cable Car Company's own hydro-power station, making the process as environmentally friendly as possible.
