The Gehwolfhütte is a well-loved day trip destination for young and old and lies at the foot of the Kreuzkogel. The easiest way to reach the mountain hut is from the top station of the Grossarl Panorama Cable Car (also in operation in summer!) downhill in approx. 1/2 an hour or along the circular path to the Kreuzkogel in approx. 1 hour. From the valley there are 2 routes to the hut: either along the forest road from Unterberg South (Lagerhaus shop) in around 3 hours or along the forest path from Unterberg near the Hotel Johanneshof in approx. 2 1/2 hours. Substantial menu with home-made produce: hearty snacks, Kaiserschmarren (chopped pancake), soups and a variety of warm dishes. Good-sized sun terrace with children's playground. Overnight accommodation for 15-20 persons in 4-bedded rooms and dormitory available.
