Aualm1,795 m (1 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours)
At the foot of the legendary Schuhflicker (2,214 m) lies the Aualm, one of highest alpine huts in the valley. It can be reached along the Rattersberg/Pointgrün access road (walking time approx. 1 1/2 hours) and along further on the road past the Heimalm to the Au-Hochalm (approx. 1 1/2 -2 hours). Whilst enthusiastic hikers start walking from the village or from one of the last farmhouses, others enjoy the advantage of being able to drive right up to the hut and use it as a base for hikes on the Schuhflicker, to the Schuhflicker Lake and Paar Lakes.
On days when the lift is in operation a ridge walk from the panorama plateau over the Kreuzkogel, the Fulseck and the Arltörl to the Aualm is particulary recommended. From here you can descend into the valley refreshed or be picked up by taxi.
